Lions and Tigers and Bears, oh my!!!

The best field trips are the ones that are fun and educational. The Seneca Park Zoo was one of those trips. Students were able to tour the zoo for the day while enjoying the different animals. From big to small we enjoyed them all! The lions were hungry and the spiders were as creepy as ever. I am sure many of the students wanted to take a monkey home in their pocket, but the only thing they left with were great memories.

Aerodynamics

It is all about the form
Concentration face
Those paper airplanes your child is constructing with their homework are actually educational. They shouldn't be using their homework, but the airplanes are teaching your child engineering. There are a thousand different ways to fold a paper airplane and it takes a while to find the perfect fit for you. Of coarse, you want to know what your plane needs to do before you worry about constructing it. Mr. Reynolds set up a couple of different tasks for the students in the A-3 Program. Students were given a few chances to construct different airplanes for the different tasks. One plane had to fly the greatest distance and the other plane had to fly the straightest.
Sometimes it just takes a good teacher
Maybe a big wind up is key?

Engineering with Legos

Have you ever wondered what type of devices you can build with Legos? The answer to that is just about anything when you set your mind to it! Students in the A-3 Program have been working hard for the last week building different mechanisms with Legos. The students built fishing poles, solar cars, street sweepers and even people. Make sure to ask your student what their favorite project was.
