Summer Enrichment Program Week 2 Highlights

Another exciting week at program...Ms. Farrand's & Ms. Morrissey's class learned all about ancient civilizations. Students participated in various activities such as creating their own secret hieroglyphic codes and excavating cookies! In Mr. Graham's and Ms. Pogue's class students designed and built dragsters using pop bottles. They were powered by compressed air and raced down a track side by side. Students did an awesome job creating their own individual designs. In Ms. King's class students learned all about the wonders of the human body. Students created brain model hats. They also engaged in several body and mind experiments including the "floating arm" experiment.

A-3 Field Trip to "The Gentle Dentist"

A-3 Students enjoyed a visit to Dr. Meyer a.k.a The Gentle Dentist in Hornell, NY on Friday, July 17th. Dr. Meyer, along with Dental assistants Shelly and Maria, provided our students with an amazing hands on learning experience! Students learned about all aspects Dentistry including, but not limited to, careers and practice areas. Our students even had the opportunity to perform fillings on real teeth!

Summer Enrichment Program Week 1 Highlights

We've had a busy first week! A-3 Students have had the opportunity to engage in several hands-on STEM & STEAM enrichment activities. Some of these activities included Mr. Graham & Ms. Pogue challenging students to an engineering challenge of building a structure out of toothpicks that could withstand different weights (including that of one of our students!) Ms. King, Mr. Mills, & Mr. Miles students exploring planting, trees, fish, and even photography! Mrs. Farrand & Ms. Morrissey's students making different types of bubbles and engaging in several cooperative learning games. Most students have also had the opportunity to blog on www.kidsblog.org! It's been an awesome week full of fun, laughter, &  learning!
