Ready, Set, Go!!!

A little friendly competition never hurt anyone. Students started their summer off by building and decorating their very own air powered bottle cars. All cars were not built equally. Students were given a chance to decorate their cars with construction paper, which affected the vehicles drag. After spending a few days building, students were able to take their cars for a spin on the track. As stated before, the cars we powered by air. The cars were shot off at 50 psi and they were moving so quickly we had to do photo finishes! There could only be one "Champion of the Universe", but in reality every student is a winner.

We have a winner!

Summer Programming

Summer Programming has started. The A-3 Program is working very closely with the Summer Reading Program and the Summer Recreation Program to bring a very busy, but fun summer experience to the students at Canisteo-Greenwood. Students are going to be working on a lot of different projects in A-3 this summer including water rockets, solid fuel rockets, solar cars, air powered cars, and trebuchets. Make sure to ask your student about their projects! They can make for great dinner conversations.

Niagara Falls

What do you get when you send 28 students and 8 adult chaperones on the Maid of the Mist??? One of the wettest field trips for the A-3 Program. On June 21, 2014, the A-3 Program took a field trip to Niagara Falls State Park to enjoy the view and learn about the North American natural wonder. Did you know about 750,000 gallons of water rocket over Niagara Falls every second? Students were able to spend the day learning about Niagara Falls and taking in some of the wonderful attractions. Everyone had a chance to ride the Maid of the Mist which gets mere feet from the falls. Students were also able to spend some time in the Niagara Falls Discovery Center. All in all, everyone who attended the trip had a wonderful and educating experience.
